The Honeymoon ain’t over yet.

Love or hate it, Elvis and Hawaii are strange bedfellows married in Hawaii's history. Much of that union was forged in little love shack in the Pacific — The Wedding Chapel at Coco Palms Resort. This humble chapel still stokes memories of a romance in simpler time. Love was celebrated here a thousand times over by star-crossed lovers chasing tenderness in paradise.

Coco Palms was a hotspot for the Hollywood celebs of the time. Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby were regulars. Singers, athletes and royalty became guests throughout the years. In the film Blue Hawaii, Elvis sang the “The Hawaiian Wedding Song” for his film bride on the way to the Wedding Chapel by way of torchlit canoe. Elvis returned to re-create the wedding for himself with Priscilla at Coco Palms, and the rest was history.

All shook up.

Today the Chapel is in shambles, struck by hurricane and neglected by developers. Guinea grass and vine eat away at its skin and bones but yet, an aura remains. The Chapel is place of peace and nature, with chicken crows and wind rustling the breeze. It is a place of birds and critters with speckles of lights that dance through legendary palm trees.

Love still lingers here, maybe it always was here from the start.

Don’t be cruel.
